‘Inaccurate and sensationalist reports’ – Spurs issue statement to correct news of incident

Tottenham Hotspur have released a statement following the small fire which occurred within the stadium earlier this morning.

The club confirmed that the fire was caused by an air compressor within one of the kitchens and only affected a small area, before being put out by a fire extinguisher by the first person who was at the scene of the incident.

The club have moved to explain what had happened at the stadium in order to correct ‘inaccurate and sensationalist reports’ which appeared in the media earlier today.

The fire alarm system was triggered and the building was evacuated in due course; the London Fire Brigade attended the scene and undertook a safety inspection, prior to leaving the stadium.

It was reported that ‘around 300’ people had to be evactuated from the building after a blaze had broken out.

It is fantastic news for everyone that no one was seriously injured during this incident, and for Levy – his £1bn stadium stays intact. It appears that the fire was massively hyped up within the media for what was a relatively trivial issue.
