Injury news: Nuno reveals Spurs star is ready to return – One still out injured

Tottenham Hotspur head coach, Nuno Espirito Santo has revealed that Matt Doherty is back in the frame to return against Burnley this week.

Spurs play Sean Dyche’s men on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup as they look to advance to the next round, and may have the right-wing-back in contention again.

Unfortunately, Nuno also revealed that Ryan Sessegnon is still unable to join the first-team squad, with the left-back having been out for the majority of the season.

Having split the squad in half last week for the Premier League and Europa Conference League, Nuno was asked whether he would use the majority of the 20 who featured in the matchday squad against West Ham.

He confirmed this was the case, adding that he has players who expect more minutes and feel as if they deserve more minutes, and he will have to manage all situations individually.

Nuno said (Tottenham): “He’s [Doherty] back in the group, that’s good news.

“He’s going to be in the squad, but it’s up to us to decide the right moment to integrate all the players.

“The only bad news that we have at this moment is Ryan Sessegnon – he’s not able to join us yet.”

Asked if he expected to use most of the 20 who were seen in the West Ham squad, he added: “Basically yes, but we have players that we need, players that are working hard, maybe with the expectation that they will have more minutes, the expectation that they deserve more minutes.

“But it’s up to us to manage all these situations individually, at the same time looking at which are the best partnerships for what we want to be as a team.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

I expect Kane and Son to start against Burnley, as well as a number of other first-team stars. But, Nuno will likely give some fringe players a chance too, like Gollini, Sanchez, Rodon, Tanganga, Lo Celso and more.
