Inter Milan legend heaps praise on Tottenham trio

After a dismal few weeks in the Premier League, slumping to two successive defeats at the hands of both Watford and Liverpool, Spurs will be looking forward to a break from the domestic competition.

However, it doesn’t get any easier for the Lilywhites, as Inter Milan and the Champions League awaits tonight.

The last time Tottenham played Inter in this competition at the San Siro, Gareth Bale scored a sensational hat trick, something that many Spurs attackers will be dreaming of today.

Tottenham are without the injured Dele Alli and Hugo Lloris, while Kieran Trippier and Toby Alderweireld have been left at home for ‘technical reasons’ by Pochettino.

Despite their recent run of bad form, Inter Milan legend has heaped the praise on this Spurs team, and three players in particular.

Giuseppe Baresi has compared the front three of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli to the Tottenham stars of 2010, Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Rafa Van der Vaart.

This is very high praise indeed, with all three of those players enjoying successful careers at one of the biggest clubs in the world, Real Madrid.

Here’s hoping that Spurs’ current trio do not follow a similar path.

Baresi told Football London: “There are some similarities between the two sides, looking at the players they have and the way they play. Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Harry Kane – three of the stars of the current team – are on a similar level to the three you mentioned from 2010.

“They were a fearsome side then just as they are now, but Inter are perfectly capable of giving them a game.”
