Inter Milan star confirms he will be staying at the club despite Tottenham links

Rumoured Tottenham target Hakan Calhanoglu has now confirmed that he will remain at Inter Milan next season. 

Calhanoglu has been one of Inter’s most consistent performers since his controversial switch from local rivals, AC Milan, a year and a half ago.

However, there has been some speculation over the 29-year-old’s future over recent months, which is not surprising, given that he will be down to the final 12 months of his contract this June (Transfermarkt).

Tottenham are thought to be monitoring the Turk’s situation, with CMW.it reporting at the start of February that the Lilywhites are considering laying the groundwork for a summer move for the midfielder as Antonio Conte is keen on bringing the player to North London.

However, over the last 24 hours, it has become clear that Calhanoglu is set to sign a new contract at the San Siro.

Fabrizio Romano took to social media to reveal that reports of a Premier League switch for the midfielder are ‘wide off the mark’ as he is set to put pen to paper on a new deal with Inter.

Then, the player himself has come out and all but confirmed that his future will be with the Nerazzurri.

Calhanoglu has told Gazzetta dello Spot: “I’m proud to stay here, I want to continue at Inter. This is a special club and I only want to stay here.”

Inter will have to sell a couple of their prized assets in the summer in order to balance their books. So, Tottenham will likely be monitoring several of their players.

I suspect that Bastoni is the player that Conte will want more than any other but it appears as if the Serie A are not particularly keen on cashing in on the 23-year-old.
