Inter star to miss Tottenham clash

Tottenham finished third in the Premier League last season, the third time they have finished in the top three seasons in consecutive years.

Spurs would have been hoping to continue the theme by drawing three of the easier teams in Europe’s top competition this year, after being placed into the group of death with the likes of Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund last season.

However, it was not to be, and yet again Tottenham were drawn into a group full of heavy hitters, namely Barcelona, Inter Milan and PSV.

Fans won’t need reminding what happened last season though, as Spurs actually topped the so-called group of death.

The club will be looking to do the exact same this time around, and it may help that a key Inter player will be missing from their ranks next week.

Manager Luciano Spalletti has confirmed that Lautaro Martinez will miss the clash with Tottenham.

He said this during his pre-match conference: “It is healing, but we must evaluate it from time to time. There is still no possibility of being able to say if he will be available for Tottenham, but personally I see it hard because then a little ‘training must develop at the right speed and are injuries that may have repercussions.

“On the position I say that they can not play together all 22, we must say so as not to make confusion as was done on the occasion of the Champions League when it was said rejected Gagliardini. I make the formations by choosing, not mouthing. Gagliardini remains out based on some choices made. Gagliardini remains a great player and I was sorry to leave him out “.

This is a bonus for Spurs, as they look to get under way in the Champions League with a positive win.
