Ben Davies’ Wales secured a vital win over Georgia in Tblisi setting up a mouth watering final round tie with the Republic of Ireland in Cardiff.

Serbia top Group D meaning the the winner of Wales-ROI at the Cardiff City Stadium on Monday will clinch 2nd place and then hope to be one of the eight best runners-up of the nine groups to enter into a play-off for a place in Russia. In fact Wales just need a point to be certain of securing 2nd.

Davinson Sanchez’s Colombia are struggling in South American qualifying after conceding to late goals against Paraguay in the early hours of Friday morning (UK time).Colombia can still secure a place in the finals if they can overcome Peru in their final qualifying game.

Its a huge game as Colombia who are fourth and Peru are in fifth. The winners will nab one of four automatic qualification places in South America and go straight to Russia with the team in fifth entering a play-off. If Colombia and Peru were to draw, that could let in Argentina (imagine a World Cup without Messi!!) who are level on points with Peru. A tense finale awaits.

Serge Aurier played for the Ivory Coast in a 0-0 draw with Mali, a result that did them no favours and it sets up an intriguing battle with Morocco in next month’s clash between the two nations in the race to qualify.

A stunning strike from Josh Onomah set England Under-21s on the way to a 3-1 home victory over Scotland. A dipping 25 yard volley flew over the goalkeeper in to the top corner gave his side an early lead. Kyle Walker-Peters also played the full ninety minutes in that game.
