AVB: Adebayor talks are ongoing

New manager AVB has expressed his desire to sign another striker at White Hart Lane and admitted
that talks with Manchester City over a permanent deal for Emmanuel Adebayor are continuing.

With the new season kicking off in just 2 days Jermain Defoe remains the only senior striker at Spurs
with time running out for a new signing to be made in time to feature in the Newcastle game.

Villas-Boas stated on the Adebayor deal; “There are talks. They have been happening for quite some
time… We have touched on different players in that position, but we have not been able to conclude
a deal”.

AVB also suggested however that a new striker may not be brought in in time to play against
Newcastle and that the target is instead simply to sign somebody before the transfer window closes
at the end of August;

“Our focus and attention is towards that position (striker), which we will try to sort out next week”.
