‘Is that the right move’ – Journalist suggests Spurs-linked forward may not be a good fit

Journalist Andy Brassell has questioned if a move to the Premier League would make sense for Paulo Dybala, given his recent injury record.

Over the last few days, multiple outlets, including Foot Mercato and Sky Italia have named Spurs as one of the leading contenders to land Dybala, whose contract at Juventus runs out at the end of the season.

According to 90 min, the Argentine’s agent is in contact with Tottenham, as well as other Premier League clubs, ahead of a potential summer transfer.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold suggested earlier this week that Dybala might be an ‘awkward fit’ for Spurs, given the forward’s muscular problems and the demanding nature of Antonio Conte.

This has now been seconded by Brassell, who suggested that the Juve star might not be able to cope with the demands of Premier League football.

However, the journalist insisted that there was little doubt about Dybala’s quality and added that he could fit in well in Manchester City’s set-up.

Brassell told Sky Sports News (25/3, 12:34): “He’s (Dybala) going to have a few [options], there’s no doubt about that. There’s a big question to be asked about him, though, because Juventus haven’t let him go because he’s not a great player.

“They’ve let him go because they’d be committing an awful lot of money to someone who’s 28-years-old and who’s had a lot of injuries in recent years. That is a huge problem.

“I think when you look at the possibility of him arriving in the Premier League, you look at the way he plays, his versatility, his intelligence, he would be a great footballing fit for Manchester City. But do you want someone who has got that fitness question?

“I think, especially when you look at the physical tax in the Premier League, it is physically tough. You have to ask, really, is that the right move for Dybala? Atletico Madrid, I think, are an interesting option for him, they’ve been interested in him for a while.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The only reason I think Spurs could be tempted to make an offer to Dybala is the fact that the Argentine is available on a free transfer. The chance to sign a player of his quality for free does not present itself too often. However, other teams across Europe will be much more desperate to land the 28-year-old than the Lilywhites.
