‘It could be fun’ – Hojbjerg insists he could see Eriksen re-joining Tottenham

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has admitted that he can see his Denmark teammate Chrisitan Eriksen returning to Tottenham this summer, insisting that the move would suit all parties.

Tottenham have reportedly spoken to Eriksen about potentially returning to the club this summer, with the North London club thought to be waiting for the midfielder’s decision (GiveMeSport).

Meanwhile, Brentford have also allegedly offered the Dane a long-term contract on the back of his exploits at the Brentford Community Stadium during the second half of the season (Sky Sports live transfer blog – June 2, 9:51 pm).

Despite Manchester United and Everton also reportedly showing interest in Eriksen (Mirror), some expect the attacking midfielder either remain at Brentford or return to Spurs (Carsten Werge on Sky Sports).

Hojbjerg has now admitted that the decision is up to the 30-year-old and backed his international teammate to make the right choice for his personal future.

The Spurs midfielder told Danish publication Bold about Eriksen: “You get one guess. Everyone knows that Christian is master of his own future, and he has shown time and time again that he masters really well.

“He also needs to have peace of mind with the family, to figure out what the next step is for him and I am sure he will make the best possible choice for himself.”

Hojbjerg revealed that Antonio Conte, as well as his Spurs teammates, have asked about the attacking midfielder, insisting that many at the North London club continue to hold him in high regard.

When asked if Conte has spoken about Eriksen, he responded: “Yes, the coach has asked me how it is. When we came back after being together last, he asked me how he was doing.”

When asked if he can see the midfielder returning to N17 this summer, Hojbjerg said: “Of course, I can. Then there is the question of whether he himself can, but of course, I can see that Christian can contribute something to that team.

“It could be fun for all parties, but I do not think it is opportunities he lacks, and then it’s just what is the right opportunity and what he himself feels for.

“Many of my teammates in the club also had to do with him, and we talk about him occasionally. Some of them might even talk to him once in a while. He made a fantastic impression there as a player and as a person, and it was noticed by many.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Reading between the lines, it seems like Hojbjerg is saying that he has spoken to Eriksen about returning to Spurs but the 30-year-old is yet to reveal what he has decided.

My gut feeling is that the Dane will put pen to paper on a long-term contract with Brentford on the back of the success he enjoyed with the Bees in the second half of the campaign.
