“It is a great sign we are producing these type of players.” – Kane raves about England youngster

While Spurs’ recent form has been disappointing, most players will get to the opportunity to put that out of their minds as they report for International duty this week.

Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Kieran Trippier, Danny Rose and Eric Dier have all retained their place in the England squad, as the Three Lions get set to begin their Euro 2020 qualifiers with games against the Czech Republic and Montenegro.

Two players were handed their first-ever call ups by Gareth Southgate this time round – Chelse’s Callum Hudson-Odoi and West Ham United’s Declan Rice.

While Rice had had a fantastic season for West Ham so far, Hudson-Odoi has impressed in the handful of games he has played for the Blues.

Captain Harry Kane was asked about how Hudson-Odoi is fitting in, and the 25-year-old was all praise for the Chelsea wide-man. The striker said that it was a great sign for the country that players with flair are coming through.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Kane said, “He (Hudson-Odoi) has been great. He wants to take full advantage of his opportunities and it looked like he was enjoying it out there.

“We are excited to have him. Competition for places is huge at the moment, everyone is fighting for a spot and the youth aren’t scared to go and express themselves, try their skills and try to score goal and that is what we want.

“As an England team, we want that flair and flexibility. It is a great sign in this country we are producing these type of players.

“Everyone has a different path to the top. Mine was going on loan and trying to get experience there.

“Callum has had a taste of cup competition and a little bit in the Premier League and I am sure he wants to gain that experience at the highest level.

“For him and young players coming through it is vital they play and have that experience.

“Everyone knows he is a fantastic player but in football you have ups and downs and it is part of the journey. I have no doubt he has the ability to play at the highest level.”
