‘It is a pleasure for me’ – Conte reveals he enjoys coaching ‘fantastic’ player at Spurs

Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte has admitted he enjoys coaching Harry Kane and hailed the England striker’s will to improve as both a player and a person.

Kane, after making a slow start to the campaign under Nuno Espirito Santo, has seen his performance levels increase since Conte’s arrival in November.

Despite scoring just once in his first 13 Premier League outings, the 28-year-old has risen his tally to 13 goals and eight assists (Transfermarkt) while propelling Spurs into the Champions League dogfight.

The Evening Standard reported that while Kane will wait until the end of the season to decide his future, Tottenham are hopeful they will be able to retain his services this summer, with the club’s support of Conte likely to be a factor in his choice.

And the Italian coach in turn has revealed what it is like to work with a player of Kane’s calibre, highlighting the England captain’s dedication to bettering himself across all levels.

Conte told Sky Sports Football: “For sure we are talking about a world-class striker and an incredible player. It is a pleasure for me to be his coach. He is a fantastic player but I want to underline the human aspects.

“Usually if a player has great talent, sometimes they don’t want to work the same way as other players, sometimes they are lazy and think they can’t improve, but instead he has great desire to improve himself.”

Conte seems to be a big admirer of Kane and vice versa, and also appreciates how fortunate he is to have such a high quality player at his disposal.

Hopefully Tottenham make sure they do enough to satisfy both of them heading into next season, with the pair likely to be such key factors in driving the club forward.
