‘It is not impossible’ – Chris Sutton issues Tottenham score prediction for Liverpool clash

Chris Sutton has delivered his verdict ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s trip to Anfield, and it is a prediction that Spurs supporters will not enjoy hearing.

2026 has been a difficult year for Tottenham Hotspur, who remain without a single victory three months into the year.

But Spurs will be hoping to end the rot in their next Premier League encounter against Liverpool at Anfield, a ground they have not won at since 2011.

It is a daunting task, but so is every game from here on as Tottenham battle for Premier League survival, sitting 16th and just a point above the relegation zone.

Tottenham vs Liverpool prediction as Chris Sutton backs Reds win

Chris Sutton, writing in his BBC Sport column, has now shared his prediction for the clash – and it spells more misery for Spurs.

Sutton questioned how anyone could back Tottenham given their current form, while also criticising Igor Tudor’s handling of the situation since arriving at the club. He then went on to predict a defeat for Tottenham.

He wrote: “How on earth can anyone back Spurs to get anything at the moment? Igor Tudor is making me look like I was a competent manager when I was in charge of Lincoln.

“The Spurs fans in Madrid were singing about playing Lincoln away next season – the Imps are top of League One – can you imagine me up against Tudor in the dugout?

“He has taken over a difficult situation but he has gone about things in a very odd way. It might be the done thing in Croatia or Italy to go into a club and tell the players some truths and say they are rubbish, but it is one thing doing it behind closed doors, and another to do it publicly.

“There just seems to be so many things wrong at Spurs. They sacked Thomas Frank, thinking they were going to get this short-term fix from Tudor, but they have got a guy who has had a short-term shocker.

“Liverpool are far from convincing either, mind you. It is not impossible that Spurs scramble a win here because Arne Slot’s side were lousy in Turkey on Tuesday.

“Slot has got the second leg against Galatasaray to think about, and they will make changes, but they surely cannot lose to Tottenham, can they?”

Chris Sutton’s prediction: 2-0.

Supercomputer predicts another defeat for Spurs

Sutton is far from the only one predicting a Liverpool victory on Sunday, with Opta’s AI model making a similar forecast.

The supercomputer handed Spurs a meagre 16.1% chance of victory against the Reds, who were given a 65.1% chance of winning the match.

But these are only predictions and Tottenham must pay little attention to them. Liverpool can surely be got at, as seen in their recent outings against Wolves and Galatasaray.

If Spurs can put up a fight, they might well earn a vital win for the first time in 2026.
