‘It suits me’ – Spurs star believes new formation under Conte is ‘perfect’ for him

Ryan Sessegnon has revealed that he thinks the new back three formation under Antonio Conte is ‘perfect’ for him, as left-wing-back is where he feels most at home.

Spurs signed Sessegnon for Fulham in a £25m deal back in 2019, but the youngster has only made 15 appearances across all competitions in the years that have followed.

Having said that, the England U21 international did go out on loan to Hoffenheim last season, where he picked up some experience playing left-wing-back in the Bundesliga.

Sessegnon managed 29 appearances in all competitions across the season and clocked up two goals and three assists in that time (TransferMarkt).

The youngster will be hoping to kick on this season with Tottenham and has hinted at his happiness with the new formation, while also opening up on that loan spell in Germany.

Speaking to the press today, Sessegnon said (Football London): “The formation is perfect for me. To play left wing-back is probably where I’m most comfortable playing. It suits me.”

On the Hoffenheim loan, he added: “It was a very positive experience. Going out there was obviously a challenge going away from my comfort zone. I played in a very good Hoffenheim team. I enjoyed my time.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

I have to agree with Sessegnon here. The left-wing-back formation does suit him perfectly, as it does with a number of other players. I believe he will get a decent chunk of minutes this season as competition for Sergio Reguilon.
