‘It was like going to school’ – Ex-Chelsea star opens up on playing under Conte

Cesc Fabregas has warned the Tottenham Hotspur squad of what lies ahead after Antonio Conte has taken over as the club’s new head coach.

Fabregas played under Conte during his Chelsea days, with the midfielder giving an insight into the Italian’s man-management skills.

The pair won the FA Cup and the Premier League title together at Stamford Bridge before Conte parted ways with the Blues and eventually decided to return to Italy and manage Inter Milan, ending their long wait for the prestigious Scudetto title.

Fabregas insisted that Conte always knows what he wants from his teams and will tell you exactly what he expects from start to finish. It is up to the Tottenham players to execute that in North London.

Speaking on Conte, Fabregas said (CBS Sport): “I think with Antonio, it was the first time that I’ve seen someone know exactly [what they want] … It was like going to school.

“I promise you, he will tell you, from the goalkeeper until you have scored a goal, what you have to do, exactly everything.

It is refreshing to see that Conte is looking to make his mark on the club with some shrewd decisions – nobody can really question his intentions at this stage and instead appreciate that we have a manager who is not afraid to make tough choices.
