‘It was scary’ – Liverpool player makes claim about facing Tottenham duo

When talking to Henrie Kwushue on UMM’s official YouTube channel, Liverpool defender Rhys Williams admitted that ‘it was scary’ coming up against Tottenham duo Harry Kane and Son-Heung Min last season.

The defender was handed his Premier League debut in December against Spurs at Anfield.

On the day, Son levelled the scoring after a great pass by Lo Celso, but Liverpool eventually won the game 2-1 courtesy of a late Roberto Firmino header.

Tottenham’s season was generally a disappointing one but Son and Kane were a silver lining, even breaking records along the way.

Kane and Son wrote their names into the Premier League history books when their goal against Crystal Palace in March meant the pair had combined for the 14th goal this season, which is the highest ever recorded.

They beat Shearer and Sutton to the record, who achieved 13 combined goals in the 1994/1995 season when Blackburn Rovers won the title.

Williams spoke about the experience of coming up against the deadly duo:

“It was scary. I thought one mistake and they are going to score most likely unless Ali (Alisson Becker) pulls us out of it.

“But the boss trusts me so I will just have faith in my ability and see what I can do against them.”

Kane and Son were incredible last year. In a season where everything around them fell, they both rose.

Especially at the start of the season, the two could not be tamed. Their connection is irreplaceable and Nuno has to build a side around the partnership.
