‘It was unbelievable’ – Player explains reaction to first visit to Spurs’ stadium after joining

Sergio Reguilon says that he was blown away after seeing Tottenham’s stadium for the first time during his official unveiling at the start of last season.

Reguilon signed for Spurs from Real Madrid in a deal worth around £28 million (Football.London) following an impressive campaign on loan at Sevilla.

His move happened alongside a loan deal for Gareth Bale, who completed a sensational return to Spurs after seven years away from the club.

Reguilon’s switch to north London also saw him arrive ahead of Tottenham’s second full season at their new stadium, which was completed just over a year before his transfer.

Now in his second season, the Spaniard has since revealed his expectations were exceeded massively upon seeing the £1 billion (The Athletic) arena for the very first time.

He told the club’s official Twitter account: “It was unbelievable. I swear, I swear. I started to look and say, ‘It’s not real hey?’

“So my expectation was high but when I arrived, my expectations went out and now it’s more than high.”

The stadium, for all its expense and difficulty in getting built, provides Spurs a whole new level of drawing in players and progressing the club.

Reguilon’s reaction symbolises that and it really shows how much attention to detail there was in getting it completed.

All that is left to do now is build a team that is worthy of enough of playing in it on a regular basis.
