‘It wasn’t enough’ – Richarlison sends honest message to Spurs fans after debut season

Richarlison has admitted that he has been disappointed with his level of performance this season and vowed to come back stronger next campaign.

Richarlison‘s arrival from Everton was met with excitement from many Spurs fans as the Brazilian was expected to add even more firepower to an already potent frontline, thus helping the Lilywhites close the gap with the best teams in the Premier League.

However, it has been a campaign to forget for the 26-year-old as well as for the club in general, with Tottenham failing to qualify for any European competitions for the first time in well over a decade.

Richarlison has endured an injury-hit campaign and has found the back of the net just three times across all competitions, well short of the kind of returns that the club would have expected when they shelled out £60m for him.

There have even been some suggestions over recent weeks that the former Toffees star could leave North London this summer (Il Romanista) but the forward has not taken to social media to express his intention to deliver the goods for the Lilywhites next season.

Richarlison’s Instagram posts reads: “Easy to say this wasn’t my dream season.

“I came to a club that bet high on my signing and the Champions League to compete and I finish this first season without delivering what I know I can and without achieving Tottenham’s collective goals.

“Anyone who has followed me saw that injuries were almost routine, something that had never happened to me before, and so I could never really have a sequel, which frustrated me a lot and really messed up my income.

“Even though I gave blood every time I walked on the field, I know it wasn’t enough.

“Now it’s time to rest, get my head right and take care of myself to start all over again next season 100% physically and much stronger.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Despite their struggles this season, I have no concerns regarding either Richarlison and Bissouma as both players have proven their quality in the Premier League over the years.

In some ways, I expect both players to be like new signings next season and would not be surprised if they made themselves a key part of the eleven.
