Alan Shearer has claimed this summer will be Harry Kane’s final chance to leave Tottenham, otherwise he will remain at the club for the rest of his career.
Kane allegedly made his intentions known regarding his future at the end of last season when he told Spurs of his desire to leave the club (Sky Sports).
Despite a summer full of speculation with heavy reported interest from Manchester City, the England captain was resigned to staying in North London after Spurs remained firm on their reluctance to sell (Sky Sports).
While struggling at the start of the campaign, in which he scored just once in 13 Premier League games (Transfermarkt), Kane has rediscovered his form under Antonio Conte to put the club in contention for Champions League qualification.
And even though he has more than two years remaining on his current deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (TransferMarkt), Shearer feels this summer is Kane’s last chance to leave Spurs if he still wants a move away.
However, the former Newcastle striker predicted the 28-year-old will go on to break a number of records if he does remain on board beyond the upcoming transfer window.
Shearer said on the Match of the Day: Top 10 podcast: “On the other side of that, if he does stay, he’ll probably end up with the Tottenham record, breaking Jimmy Greaves’ record.

“He’ll end up with a statue outside the ground, and he’ll break the Premier League record, and a World Cup Golden Boot, that’s very important as well.
“In his defence, he’ll have those things, but if he doesn’t move this summer, it will never happen.”
Spurs Web Opinion
If there is interest in Kane this summer, then Spurs will pull out all the stops as they did last year to try and keep him.
Conte being in charge is a big pull factor for the club, as playing in the Champions League would be, so it is imperative that they make sure qualification is secured for next season’s competition.
