Italian defender claims Tottenham tried to sign him this year

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked to numerous players this summer, as they look to ensure they don’t endure a third straight signing-less window.

While Spurs have been linked to some big European names such as Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon (Sky Sports) and Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis (BBC), they have also been adding to their youth ranks.

The North London club signed Kion Etete from Notts County earlier this month (Nottingham Post), as well as 15-year-old Isak Solberg from Byrne (talkSPORT).

There have been reports that the club’s first senior signing in the last 18 months may come in the form of 18-year-old Leeds winger, Jack Clarke (Sun).

However, it appears that Spurs did miss out on one of their teenage targets, as 19-year-old Bordeaux defender, Raoul Bellanova claims Spurs made contact.

The Express report that Bellanova joined Bordeaux from AC Milan back in January, but he did have interest from over five other clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur.

Bellanova said (tuttomercatoweb): “Yes, I was close to Manchester City, but I was also asked by Tottenham, Juventus, Sampdoria, Bologna and many other teams.”
