Italian international reveals why he wants to avoid Tottenham

Legendary Juventus centre half Leonardo Bonucci has named Tottenham Hotspur as the team to avoid in this season’s Champions League knockout stages following the appointment of Jose Mourinho as head coach.

The club decided to part ways with Mauricio Pochettino and replace him with Mourinho after a poor start to the campaign. Results and performances have picked up instantly under the Portuguese manager with Spurs winning both of his first two games in charge.

Bonucci has claimed that the arrival of the special one has made Tottenham a different proposition in Europe’s biggest club competition.

Speaking to Sport Mediaset, the 32-year-old defender said, “If I need to pick a team to avoid, I would say Tottenham

“Mourinho may give them something extra in certain games. A lot can change between now and the last 16, but with this change Tottenham are back on track, with all due respect to Pochettino.”

Tottenham made it to the finals of the Champions League last season where they were eventually beaten by Liverpool. They will be hoping to go on better this time with Mourinho looked for his third title after previously winning the competition with Porto and Inter Milan.
