Alfredo Pedulla has revealed where Tottenham Hotspur stand in the race for Sandro Tonali as the interest in the Newcastle star heats up.

Over the last 12 hours, it has been widely reported that Spurs are pushing to land Tonali, but they are not the only ones interested.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham could face competition from Arsenal and Man City for the 26-year-old, who Roberto De Zerbi is extremely keen to bring to N17.

The Gunners’ and Cityzens’ interest in the midfielder was also backed up by The Mirror, who claimed that Newcastle are demanding £100m for Tonali.

Tottenham have a major advantage over other clubs in the Sandro Tonali race

Alfredo Pedulla has become the latest journalist to provide an update on the race for the Newcastle man’s future.

The Italian reporter claims that the 26-year-old, who came into his own last season after a difficult start to his Premier League career, is on the radar of ‘all the big English clubs’.

However, he asserted that Spurs hold an advantage over other suitors, due to Tonali’s strong relationship with De Zerbi.

Pedulla wrote on X: “Tonali: all the English big clubs are in the race, but Tottenham has the advantage of the excellent relationship between the midfielder and De Zerbi.”

Roberto De Zerbi has tried to sign Tonali in the past

The Tottenham boss’ admiration for the Newcastle man is not new, with the 46-year-old having followed the midfielder closely since his days at Brescia.

In fact, three years ago, De Zerbi admitted that he tried to sign Tonali from AC Milan when he was in charge at Sassuolo.

The Italy international would be well aware of how much the Tottenham boss rates him, and Spurs fans would be hoping that De Zerbi is successful in persuading Tonali to work with him at N17.
