Italian news outlet claim Spurs are the only side to show genuine interest in winger

Following the appointment of Antonio Conte at Inter Milan the fate of Croatian winger, Ivan Perisic, now rests in the former Chelsea manager’s hands.

Perisic, now aged 30, was previously linked with both Tottenham and Arsenal but neither side managed to reach an agreement with Inter (The Sun).

Now, with Conte at the helm, the question of Perisic’s future seems to be on the lips of many. Despite being contracted with the Italian side until 2022, Conte is set to decide whether or not he wants Perisic to remain part of his plans for next season.

Although both North London sides were seeking Perisic’s services, Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport have reported that Tottenham are the only side to show genuine interest in the winger, in the form of a formal enquiry.

Arsenal’s failure to secure Champions League football for next season has restricted their abilities in the summer transfer market. With Inter having secured Champions League football for themselves, a move to Arsenal would be a step down for Perisic and this looks set to pave the way for Spurs to pursue his services without competition from their North London rivals.

Spurs Web Opinion

Perisic is a player I have always thought would do well in the Premier League. He has been linked with a move to England for a few years now and I still feel he could have an important role to play if he did join Spurs.

However, his age would now be a concern for me. At 30, Perisic doesn’t really represent a long-term investment. His reported price tag of €40m (Corriere dello Sport) could be spent elsewhere and for those reasons I’d be looking to pursue other, younger attacking options, such as Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon.
