Italian press claim winger snubbed Spurs in favour of move to Italy

Andreas Skov Olsen shot to limelight last season after breaking into Danish club FC Nordsjaelland’s first team.

The 19-year-old netted 19 goals in 29 appearances in the Danish Superliga (according to TransferMarket.com), a stunning tally for someone who isn’t an out and out striker.

The tricky left-footer, who prefers playing wide on the right-hand side, has been linked with a whole host of clubs including Tottenham (The Mirror).

However, reports in the Italian press are claiming that the youngster is now on his way to Bologna. Local newspaper Il Resto del Carlino insist that Bologna beat competition from Tottenham for the teenager’s signature.

Il Resto del Carlino suggest that Olsen “didn’t give in” to the attraction of a move to Tottenham or Bayern Munich with the Dane was keen on playing regular first-team football and continuing his development.

Given the world-class players we have in our squad, it is always likely that some younger players like Olsen will hesitate to come to the club due to fears over whether they would get sufficient opportunities. The same thing seems to have happened with Willian Saliba as well.

However, Pochettino has clearly shown that he is willing to trust younger players and that there is a path to the first team given the player has the right quality and attitude.
