Italian publication reveals whether Bastoni is likely to join Spurs this summer

According to the print edition of Corriere della Sera (31/05/22 – as relayed by Sport Witness), there is a good chance that Alessandro Bastoni will follow Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan to Tottenham this summer.

Spurs announced the signing of Perisic on a free transfer on Tuesday, with the North Londoners now set to turn their attention to Bastoni, who is thought to be Antonio Conte’s first-choice centre-back target this summer (Football.London).

The Evening Standard reported on Monday that the centre-back has reservations about swapping the San Siro for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, and would have to be convinced to make the move.

The report did add, however, that Inter were close to agreeing on a deal for Torino’s Gleison Bremer and may need to cash in on Bastoni to balance the books.

Corriere della Sera have now backed up that information, stating that Spurs ‘could soon take away Bastoni too’ after swooping for Perisic.

The report claims that selling the 23-year-old to Tottenham would bring €60m (£51m) into Inter’s bank account and would allow them to go after Bremer, who is valued at around €40m-€45m (£34m-£38.3m) by Torino.

Spurs Web Opinion

If it is true that Inter are expected to accelerate their move for Bremer over the coming days, then we could well see some movement in Tottenham’s pursuit of Bastoni.

Interestingly, Spurs are also reportedly preparing an offer for Bremer (Calciomercato). One wonders if that is gamesmanship from Paratici to get Inter to soften their stance on Bastoni.
