FirenzeViola have run an editorial suggesting that Tottenham winger Bryan Gil is not good enough for a side such as Fiorentina, given their big ambitions.
Over the last week, Spurs Web have relayed reports from various Italian outlets, all of whom have suggested that while Fiorentina are keen to land Gil on loan, Spurs have not given the green light for the winger to leave so far.
This includes an update by Corriere Fiorentino (via Sport Witness), which claimed a few days ago that the Viola are ‘working incessantly’ to get their hands on the Spurs star, with the club’s CEO Joe Barone and director of football Daniele Prade both said to be doing the necessary groundwork for the deal.
However, the report added that Tottenham are not overly keen on concluding any such transfer and that Ange Postecoglu’s men are ‘considering whether to accept the loan formula’ proposed by the Serie A side.

Are there question marks over Bryan Gil’s quality?
FirenzeViola have now also backed up Fiorentina’s interest in Gil, saying that the 22-year-old is one of the ‘latest ideas’ proposed by the club’s hierarchy.
However, they suggest that the former Serie A man does not have the required quality to improve a side with aspirations of qualifying for the Champions League.
The publication says: “Tottenham’s Bryan Gil and Augsburg’s Ruben Vargas are the latest ideas in chronological order. Two good players but, at least on paper, not among those capable of significantly raising the quality level.
“It is therefore reasonable to expect something closer to the Champions League ambitions of a Fiorentina who is doing something extraordinary on the pitch and with excellent results. Which must also be supported on the market.”
Spurs Web Opinion
There has never been any doubt about Gil’s quality as a footballer, with even Antonio Conte (who barely used him) likening the winger to Bernardo Silva.
However, as things stand, the 22-year-old does not appear to be a particularly great fit for the Premier League. The winger might feel that even that is a harsh assessment, given that he has never had a run of starts to build up some confidence.
