Italian reportedly wanted by Spurs insists moving abroad ‘doesn’t scare’ him

Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar, has admitted that he would be open to moving outside Italy in the summer.

After impressing on loan at Ascoli and Genoa the last two seasons, Scamacca has shone on his return to the Mapei Stadium, having found the back of the net 12 times in 24 Serie A so far this campaign (Transfermarkt).

Gazzetta dello Sport were the first to report in December (13/12/21 print edition – via Sport Witness) that the 23-year-old was on Tottenham’s radar.

The Daily Express subsequently revealed that the Sassuolo star is ‘appreciated’ by Spurs managing director of football Fabio Paratici and the striker is ‘one to keep an eye on’ for Tottenham during the summer transfer window.

Scamacca has now insisted that he does not pay attention to the speculation about his future but he refused to rule out the prospect of leaving the Neroverdi this summer.

When asked about the rumoured interest in his services, the striker told Corriere dello Sport: “I don’t think about it, I’ve never set myself limits. When there is a decision, I will follow my heart. I went abroad once and it doesn’t scare me to make that choice again.

“The voices of interest from big clubs are pleasing, they are a stimulus. But I don’t follow the transfer market too much, certain situations don’t materialize quickly.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The challenge that Spurs will face in attracting a young, up and coming striker like Scamacca to come to the club, would be in convincing the 23-year-old that he will get sufficient game time in North London despite Kane being ahead of him in the pecking order.

I would expect Tottenham to potentially look for a versatile forward like Lautaro Martinez, who can play alongside Kane and Son while also being able to cover for the England captain upfront.
