Former Roma star Antonio Cassano has urged Inter Milan to cash in on Tottenham target Alessandro Bastoni and replace the 23-year-old with Bayer Leverkusen’s Pierro Hincapie.

Tottenham failed to get a deal for Bastoni over the line during the summer transfer window and instead snapped up Clement Lenglet on a season-long loan deal.

However, the North Londoners have been backed to reignite their interest in the Italy international in January, with revealing a couple of days ago that Antonio Conte’s men could launch an offer for the centre-back.

The report stated that Conte is keen on reuniting with Bastoni, who was alleged to be valued at £52m by the Nerazzurri.

Interestingly, Hincapie is also rumoured to be on Spurs’ radar ahead of January, with the Lilywhites thought to be battling London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea for the Ecuador international (The Daily Mirror).

In light of Hincapie’s performances at the World Cup, Cassano has called on Inter to get rid of Bastoni and snap up the Leverkusen youngster.

The 40-year-old said on Bobo TV (as relayed by CalcioMercato): “The other day I was seeing Ecuador, if I were at Inter I’d give Bastoni away to get Hincapie from Ecuador.

“A left-footed 2002, strong strong strong strong. Very strong, I’ve already moved with my friends, I told him to go to hire Hincapie. The answer? Bayer Leverkusen is an expensive shop. But Hincapie is very strong.”

Given Inter’s financial issues, perhaps the option to sell Bastoni for big-money and sign Hincapie for a cheaper fee would appeal to the club’s hierarchy.

However, I would be surprised if Simone Inzaghi’s side decided to let the centre-back go mid-season. It appears like Denzel Dumfries is the player the Serie A club plan on sacrificing in January.
