‘It’s a dream’ – Winger responds when asked about Tottenham and Chelsea interest

Roony Bardghji has admitted that it is ‘a dream’ to be linked with big clubs such as Tottenham but insisted that he remains focussed on doing well for FC Copenhagen.

Spurs have had plenty of success in their strategy of signing young, up-and-coming talent over the last couple of years, with the likes of Destiny Udogie and Pape Matar Sarr evolving into top players at the North London side.

Bardghji very much fits into that category, with the Swedish winger turning a lot of heads with his performances in Danish football and threatening to explode onto the bigger stage sooner rather than later.

Various publications have reported over the last couple of months that the winger, who has found the back of the net 10 times this season, is being watched with keen interest by the Lilywhites (90 min).

Earlier this week, The Daily Mail’s latest Transfer Confidential suggested that Ange Postecoglou’s men are still ‘considering’ a move for the teenager, who is also alleged to be on the radar of other sides around Europe.

Bardghji addresses Spurs and Chelsea interest

The Sweden Under-21 international has now given a diplomatic answer when asked about the speculation over his future, insisting that he is not thinking about anything other than doing well in the Danish capital.

When Bardghji was asked about the rumoured interest of Tottenham, Barcelona and Chelsea in his services, he told Tipsbladet: “I can’t answer that. I’m happy here, but what happens, happens. It’s very difficult to say, and I don’t think about it either. It’s nice and big. It’s a dream that big clubs want one but at the same time my focus is here. But of course, it’s big.”

It was then put to the winger that he might not get regular game time if he joins one of Europe’s top clubs, to which he responded: “I’ll take that when it comes. Right now, I’m not thinking about it that much. I have to wait for a bid from a club and then you have to see which club wants you and then you have to think about those things there. It’s hard to answer now as I don’t think about it that much.”

When asked if he has held talks with Copenhagen regarding a contract extension, Bardghji said: “Not so much, no. I don’t have many comments about it. So far there hasn’t been that much. There has been some talk, but it has been about other things. We are happy and there is no problem with those things.”

Spurs Web Opinion

As one would expect, Bardghji has kept the door open to a summer transfer but Tottenham would be hoping that the youngster does not take a leaf from Antonio Nusa’s book by deciding that it would be a better option to move to a smaller club at this stage of his career.
