Tottenham’s hopes of landing Ajax star, Donny van de Beek, this summer may have just received a major boost after the midfield revealed that he has not agreed to move to Real Madrid and is yet to make a final decision on his future.
Van de Beek’s performances for Ajax over the last couple of seasons have thrust him into the limelight, with reports indicating that several clubs are interested in his signature.
The midfielder was said to be one of the players on Tottenham’s radar in January as they looked to bring in a replacement for Christian Eriksen (Football.London) but the 22-year-old ended up staying put at the Amsterdam Arena.
Marca reported that the Dutch international already had an agreement in place with Real Madrid over a summer transfer.
However, Van de Beek has now revealed that he hasn’t agreed to leave the Dutch giants and insisted that he is still undecided over his next club.
“I still haven’t said ‘yes’ to anyone, it’s all open. I know what I have here, I’m loved by Ajax and I love Ajax.
“My feelings should be positive at a club, not only that they want me but also that I fit in their style of play.
“Of course, I also want to know the game time they will give me.”

Van de Beek could be a terrific replacement for Christian Eriksen as, not only does he possess the Dane’s creative attributes, but he also has a similar eye for goal. Additionally, Van de Beek is also far from a luxury player and someone who covers a lot of ground in midfield. So, I can see Mourinho being a fan of him. However, the sticking point is likely to be the price, especially given the financial uncertainty clubs are facing at the moment.
