‘It’s been difficult’ – Harry Kane makes admission about not winning trophies at Spurs

Harry Kane has admitted that he is quite keen to end his trophy drought and win the first major piece of silverware of his career.

Kane has been one of the best strikers in world football for many years but the 30-year-old has not always got the respect he deserves.

Many point to his lack of trophies as a reason why the England captain cannot be spoken about in the same breath as the best players in the world.

That was perhaps one of his main motivations in leaving Tottenham to join Bayern Munich last summer and the centre-forward came in for plenty of ridicule on social media when the Bavarian giants failed to win the Bundesliga title for the first time in 12 years.

Harry Kane is ready to win trophies

However, Kane and his teammates are still in with a shout of being crowned European Champions after securing passage to the semifinals of the Champions League at Arsenal’s expense this week.

When asked about the opportunity to win the first trophy of his career, the former Spurs man told TNT Sports: “I think the only one I have to prove anything to is to myself, you know.

“I always talk about improving and trying to get better day in, day out. Winning is a consequence of doing all the right things and preparing and doing all the stuff that people don’t see.

“Of course, you know, I know it’s been difficult not to have a trophy yet in my career. But I also know I’ve got plenty of years to go and, you know, I’m here at Bayern Munich to try and achieve that.

“We have an opportunity now in the Champions League to do something special. So that’s where my motivation is and that’s what I’ll continue to do.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I was surprised to see that some Spurs fans on social media took joy from the fact that Kane was unable to get his hands on the Bundesliga title, which I find quite inexplicable, given the service the striker has given to the club.

I am fully rooting for both Kane and Dier to go all the way in their Champions League and lift the big trophy at Wembley in June.
