‘It’s different’ – Richards makes confident trophy prediction for Spurs under Conte

Micah Richards has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur will win a trophy over the next few years if Antonio Conte, Harry Kane and Son Heung-min all stay at the club.

Despite coming extremely close to winning some major honours over the last decade, the Lilywhites have not been able to get over the line and taste silverware.

Tottenham’s last major trophy remains the League Cup they won in 2008, with the club having gone 14 years without silverware of any kind since then.

Spurs fans will be hoping Conte is the man to change that, with the Italian having won major accolades at the various clubs he has managed over the course of his career.

Harry Kane hinted recently that he might be willing to commit his future to Tottenham if Conte stays at the club, admitting that he and his teammates are enjoying working with the Italian (Evening Standard).

Speaking on the Match of the Day Top 10 Podcast, Gary Lineker said: “You’ve both gone with Heung-Min Son at number two, what a glorious footballer he’s been for Tottenham, it would be so sad if Son and Kane don’t win a trophy at Tottenham in many ways, they’ve been brilliant.”

Richards insisted that silverware is just around the corner for the Lilywhites, now that they have Conte in charge.

The former Manchester City defender responded: “If they stay together they will win a trophy. Now that they have Conte it’s different.

“If they keep Harry Kane, Son and Conte they will win a trophy within the next five years. It might not be the Premier League, it could be the League Cup or the FA Cup.”

We need to put all our energy and focus on the League Cup next season (which is the easiest to win) just to get this trophy hoodoo out of the way. While the Premier League and Champions League are out of our reach for the moment, there is no reason why we cannot compete for the two domestic cup competitions next season.
