“It’s his fitness” – Former player claims Spurs star needs to work harder

Tanguy Ndombele is yet to take to the field for Tottenham Hotspur this season, having not been in any of the matchday squads during pre-season or in the opening few competitive fixtures of the new campaign.

The club-record £55million signing from Lyon in 2019 has failed to settle at the Premier League club, having asked to leave the club last summer (Football.London) and made a similar request ahead of the transfer window closing this year.

Former Birmingham City and Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison has claimed that the French international is not working hard enough and needs to take a closer look at his application.

Ndombele had reportedly attracted interest with Sky Sports claiming that Bayern Munich were willing prepared offer Corentin Tolisso along with £17.2million in order to bring the midfielder to the Bundesliga.

The 24-year-old has previously come in for criticism over his workrate with Jamie Carragher branding him a ‘disgrace’ after his forty-five minute display against Burnley at Turf Moor in 2019 (Sky Sports).

Morrison told Sky Sports News, 31/8/21 (2:30PM): “Ndombele I would like to see him at Tottenham, I love Ndombele, he’s a talented individual. I don’t know, it’s his fitness, as a player individually, Jose Mourinho questioned his fitness, and now it looks like he’s not working hard enough. He is a talented individual, but sometimes you have to look yourself in the mirror and say ‘am I doing enough?’”

Ndombele’s issues at Tottenham seem to be a reoccurring problem, having remained at the club beyond the transfer deadline, it now remains to be seen whether he is prepared to roll up his sleeves and be part of the cause or is instead happy to sit on the sidelines with his £200,000-a-week salary.
