‘It’s likely to move fast’ – Club president makes admission about rumoured Spurs target

Reims president Jean-Pierre Cailot has admitted that numerous clubs are interested in singing rumoured Spurs target Axel Disasi when the transfer market opens this summer.

The central defender has been a rock at the back for Reims this season and his game has progressed considerably over the course of the campaign.

Spurs are said to have watched the 22-year-old this season while the likes of Arsenal, West Ham, and Monaco have also kept tabs on the defender (Daily Mail).

Reports in May suggested that the French Under-20 international prefered a move to La Liga over the Premier League (Orgullobiri).

L’Equipe claimed last month that Wolves had made a £13.5million bid for the defender but Reims were said to be holding out for offers in the region of £18miliion.

Cailot has now confirmed that Disasi could be on his way out from the Stade Auguste-Delaune this summer.

In an interview with But Football Club, the Ligue 1 club’s chairman said: “He (Disasi) has a release certificate.

“His profile interests a lot of clubs. Today, three clubs are quite advanced on the file.

“I do not know if it will be one of these three that he will choose. But it’s likely to move fast enough.

“Without betraying any secrets, in the three clubs, there is indeed Stade Rennais and AS Monaco.

“In addition to an English offer that we have been holding for some time.

“Another French club approached us yesterday but has not yet submitted an offer. I think he will compete in a European Cup next year.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It sounds like Wolves are the only English club to have made an offer for Disasi this summer. However, I would not be surprised if we were showing interest in the young defender given that we seem set to concentrate our recruitment efforts on the Ligue 1 market this summer. The Reims man has established a reputation as one of the best young defenders in French football.
