‘It’s not exciting’ – Former PL manager gives verdict on Conte’s style at Spurs

Neil Warnock has claimed that Tottenham are never going to be exciting to watch under Antonio Conte but predicted that the Lilywhites will be in the top four by the end of the season.

Despite getting some good results this season, Conte has come under criticism for his conservative approach, with many pundits questioning whether Spurs can compete with the top teams over the long run by playing the way they do (NBC Sports).

Perhaps, some of those concerns were proved right on Wednesday as Tottenham were soundly beaten by Man United.

The Lilywhites failed to create chances of note through the game and, in the end, were flattered by the 2-0 scoreline, with Hugo Lloris pulling off plenty of excellent saves.

Warnock has now asserted that Conte has steadied the ship at Spurs, and suggested that even though Tottenham’s style may not be pleasing on the eye, it will help the North Londoners to pick up results consistently.

The 73-year-old told talkSPORT (20/10/22 at 9:10 AM): “What Conte has done is that they have steadied the ship. They’re not going to set the world alight. But you know they are going to be round about, or there, in the top four with Conte, because he’s a good manager. But it’s not exciting.”

Spurs Web Opinion

As Conte mentioned in his post-match press conference on Wednesday, there is a very clear trend emerging with our performances against big teams, especially away from home. Perhaps, it is more of an issue with the players’ mentality than it is about their quality or Conte’s tactics.
