‘It’s some front three’ – Spurs summer signing reacts to squad quality and Bale return

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has raved about the strength of Tottenham’s current squad and admitted that there is a belief that they can achieve big things this season.

Jose Mourinho admitted in his press conference on Friday that, while the players are pleased to see the squad being strengthened, he was happy to see that some of them were also fearful of their place in the side (Football.London).

Hojbjerg was the first of the seven players to arrive in North London during the transfer window and has arguably hit the ground running better than any others.

The 25-year-old has quickly established himself as an important part of Tottenham’s midfield and added some much-needed steel in the engine room.

However, there is no doubting that the return of Gareth Bale was the club’s marquee capture of the summer.

The Welshman did not have the debut he would have been hoping for against West Ham but that will not have dampened the excitement around what a trio of Bale, Son and Kane can achieve.

When asked about Bale’s return, Hojbjerg told The Telegraph: “It’s all there for him so we are just proud and happy for him to be a part of it. I think he’s happy to be back. It’s a great statement, a great push, a great boost for the team.”

“It’s some front three. They are great guys and great professionals and great players. But we have a squad of fantastic players as well, more than just these three. We have so many good players, so many important players, which makes this team and club very interesting and very powerful.”

The midfielder also admitted that he is growing in confidence with every win but insisted that the team have their feet firmly on the ground.

He added: “I am the type of player who when you win a game, it adds more fuel. And it’s the same to my game. Every time I win and every time I go off the pitch with a successful result, my fuel and motivation gets even bigger.

“The feet are still on the ground and it is important to stay on track, the season is long, but it is nice when you try to go out and win every game that you are part of, that a run like this happens sometimes.”
