‘It’s taken over the gym’ – Davies reveals Mourinho’s thoughts on cricket practise

Ben Davies has admitted that cricket fever has gripped the Tottenham Hotspur camp and that Sergio Reguilon is better at the sport than a number of others despite only recently learning about the game.

The video of the Spurs stars engaged in a competitive game of cricket in the Hotspur Way gym went viral last week.

The video even grabbed the attention of England internationals Ben Stokes and Stuart Broad as well as Sky commentators, Nasser Hussain and Rob Key.

Davies admitted that the game has now taken over the gym at the Spurs training ground wth Jose Mourinho turning a blind eye while his players are avoiding defeat.

When asked who first initiated it, the left-back told Football.London: “I don’t really know who initiated it really. I think it just grew organically I guess.

“It started off in the dressing room with a tennis ball and a broom and then somehow kit turned up and now it’s taken over the gym now.”

While it was not all that surprising to see the likes of Davies, Gareth Bale, Harry Kane, Joe Hart, Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Matt Doherty and Jack Clarke involved, Spaniard Sergio Reguilon also seemed to be an enthusiastic participant in the video.

When asked if he is giving the 23-year-old any tips about his game, Davies said: “Not really mate. It’s coming. He’s had a go and he’s definitely better than a few others already.”

The Wales international was then asked if Mourinho has any complaints about it, to which he responded: “He hasn’t said anything about it. As long as we keep winning after we’re playing then there’s no problem.”
