Ivan Perisic reveals what he told all of Tottenham’s summer signings

Ivan Perisic has revealed that he spoke with all of Tottenham’s summer signings and called on them to be patient, and take the opportunities that come their way.

Perisic was the first of the seven signings to come through the door this summer, and the Croat has been handed the most minutes so far this season out of the new faces that came through the door.

Apart from him and Richarlison, the others have had to be patient and wait for their opportunities. Yves Bissouma has made only one start so far this season while Djed Spence has only seen a few minutes of action.

Perisic stressed that the new players will eventually get their chances to impress Conte and that they have to be prepared to show what they can do.

When asked if he has spoken to other summer signings, the 33-year-old told Football.London: “I spoke with all the new players and they have to know that they came to a big club and they have to be patient and work every day, and they have to wait for their chance.

“When the chance comes they have to accept it and play well. Only like this, they can help the team to win the games.”

Perisic also spoke about his evolution into a wing-back and admitted that he is still trying to get better in that position.

He added: “It was tough in the beginning. I changed my position after many years and at the beginning, it was a little bit tough. But it was OK.

“I was working hard and now for two and a half years, I have played in this position. I think it’s not bad but every day we can do better and we have to improve every day.”

Realistically, Conte was never likely to view throw Spence in the deep end, and I always suspected that we will only start to see the youngster get minutes in the second half of the season.

The only surprise is the fact that we have seen so little of Bissouma so far but that is likely to change over the coming weeks as I expect Conte to adopt a 3-5-2, given the injuries we have in the forward area.
