Video: Spurs may regret Ivan Perisic decision after watching his stunning volley this week

Tottenham Hotspur player Ivan Perisic rolled the years back with a stunning goal at the weekend.

Perisic was in action for Hajduk Split in their Croatian top flight fixture at Istra 1961 on Sunday where his side went behind in just the fourth minute.

The 35-year-old levelled the scoring just three minutes before the half-time break when he showed brilliant technique with his left foot to loop a curling volley beyond the reach of the goalkeeper into the far corner of the net which came from a knock-down header by his team-mate Ismaël Diallo.

Perisic’s time at Tottenham was cut cruelly short when he suffered a complex Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury in his right knee in a non-contact incident during a session at the club’s Hotspur Way training facility back in September which required surgery.

Perisic joined his boyhood club back in January on a six-month loan ahead of a permanent move when his Tottenham contract expires at the end of the season.

The veteran had looked promising under Ange Postecoglou prior to his injury and played a key role in the home win over Manchester United along with providing the assist for the winner against Sheffield United.

With Tottenham’s current shortage of left-sided players, he would have slotted in well during the absence of Destiny Udogie, however, it is great to see him back on the pitch following a tough injury as he sees out his career in his homeland.
