Ivan Perisic sends message to fans on social media to confirm transfer decision

Ivan Perisic has posted a goodbye message to Inter Milan fans on social media, confirming that his time at the San Siro has come to an end.

Perisic is expected to be Tottenham’s first capture of the summer transfer window, with the Croat thought to have completed a medical at Hotspur Way on Monday (Dan Kilpatrick).

The 33-year-old is expected to put pen to paper on a two-year contract worth £100,000-a-week, with Spurs having the option to extend the deal by another 12 months (The Times).

According to Football.London’s Alasdair Gold, Antonio Conte expects the Croat to improve the mentality of the Tottenham squad and believes that the experienced wide-man will mentor Ryan Sessegnon.

The journalist also revealed that the Inter star is a firm believer in Conte’s methods.

Perisic has now taken to Instagram to post an emotional goodbye message to his Inter teammates and the club’s fans, stating that it has been a ‘privilege’ to represent the Nerazzurri on more than 250 occasions.

He wrote: ‘After 254 games, 55 goals, 49 assists, 3 trophies and 18.934 minutes spent on the pitch wearing this glorious jersey; my journey here has come to an end. ⁣⁣⁣⁣

‘Even though every end means a new beginning it’s important to reflect back on these past years and show you my deepest appreciation for the work accomplished. ⁣⁣⁣⁣

‘It was an unforgettable learning experience for me as a player and for my whole family. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
To the team, the staff, to all the employees but most importantly to the fans: you will always have a special place in my heart. ⁣⁣⁣⁣

‘I leave feeling privileged having this club in my portfolio.’

There is arguably not a better fit for the left wing-back role in Conte’s system than Perisic. The fact that the Croat is well-versed with the Italian’s system means that he can be expected to hit the ground running in North London.
