When asked about the speculation linking him with a move to Tottenham, Ivan Toney remarked that the North London club already have one of the best number nines around in Harry Kane.
Toney has been suspended from all football-related activity for eight months for breaching Football Association betting rules.
The 27-year-old has been charged with 262 breaches of FA rule E8 between February 25, 2017, and January 23, 2021 (Sky Sports).
If not for the ban, the centre-forward would have undoubtedly been one of the sought-after players of the summer transfer window as he was coming off a prolific season, where he found the back of the net 20 times in 33 Premier League appearances (Tranfermarkt).
Tottenham were one of the clubs rumoured to be interested in Toney with Football Insider reporting back in February that the Lilywhites were plotting a move for the Bees star this summer amidst the uncertainty over Harry Kane’s future at the club.

When asked about a potential move across London to Spurs, the Brentford star has now told Kick Game on YouTube: “They have got one of the best strikers [Harry Kane] already.”

If Toney does not sign a new contract in Brentford, I expect him to be one of the hottest properties in European football next summer as he would just have one year left to run on his deal.
If Kane does leave on a free transfer next summer, we could do a lot worse than snap up the Brentford star as a replacement.
