“I’ve just got a feeling” – Danny Murphy provides two reasons why Spurs can pip Arsenal to fourth

Danny Murphy believes that Tottenham Hotspur could finish above Arsenal in the Premier League table this season for two main reasons.

Spurs head into this weekend currently trailing their north London rivals who currently occupy fourth place by three points with the Gunners having played a game less.

West Ham United are the visitors to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday while Arsenal make the trip to Aston Villa on Saturday lunchtime.

Murphy admits that Arsenal are favourites to take the final Champions League spot but highlighted the track record which Antonio Conte has during his managerial career of delivering success while also having Harry Kane at his disposal.

Kane was once again impressive during the second half of Tottenham’s 2-0 win at Brighton on Wednesday evening, scoring his side’s second goal while also providing a handful of opportunities to his team mates with his ability to drop deep and find a killer pass.

The former Spurs midfielder told Stadium Astro: “I’ve just got a feeling. Looking at the fixtures, and I make Arsenal favourites, I just think Tottenham might sneak in. There are two reasons. One is because Conte has always had success, and needs a bit of luck.

“If you’re good and lucky, then great. The other reason is Harry Kane has hit the straps at the right time, he looks so strong and powerful. I’ve got a sneaky feeling Tottenham could get fourth, but it’s fascinating.”

Tottenham look to have the easier of the two run-ins ‘on paper’, however, their indifferent form in recent weeks could mean they are the masters of their own downfall.

The north London derby which is yet to be rearranged could prove to be the decider and in fairness, it should have been played as scheduled in January, only for Arsenal to look to manipulate the Covid rules to their advantage.
