‘I’ve received top proposals’ – Spurs-linked striker makes admission about future

Rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Dusan Vlahovic has put an end to the speculation surrounding his future by declaring he will be remaining with Fiorentina this summer.

Vlahovic has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham all summer, with Alasdair Gold even revealing two weeks ago that the 21-year-old was Fabio Paratici’s number one striker target.

Spurs were reported to be competing with Atletico Madrid for the centre-forward, who scored 21 goals in the Serie A last season and has started this campaign in fine form, with three goals in three appearances so far.

However, Fiorentina technical director Nicolas Burdisso insisted earlier this month that the Serie A club had no intention of selling the Serbian international and were working on extending his contract.

Vlahovic has now admitted that he received several ‘top’ proposals to leave Fiorentina this summer. However, the striker added that he has decided to stay put at the Artemio Franchi Stadium.

He told Sky Sport Italia (via Fabrizio Romano): “I’ve received top proposals this summer, really big also for the club but I was never pushing to leave.

“I wanted to stay at Fiorentina… and I’m staying, yes.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs were never going to get Vlahovic or Martinez if Harry Kane stayed. I never believed the rumours that the Lilywhites wanted the Serbian to partner Kane rather than has his replacement.

In fact, I suspect that the difficulty Tottenham faced in striking a deal for Vlahovic likely led the Spurs hierarchy to harden their stance on Kane.
