Jack Grealish has admitted he was surprised by the amount of individual awards which Harry Kane missed out on following the end of the season.
The Tottenham Hotspur striker saw Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne named as the PFA Player of the Year, while his team-mate Ruben Dias scooped the Premier League’s Player of the Season award.
Kane had a remarkable season, considering the campaign which Tottenham experienced having scored 23 goals in 35 appearances, whilst also providing 14 assists (transfermarkt).
Grealish revealed his admiration and his delight at being able to play alongside the England captain at international level, while highlighting the impressive effort that he displayed for his club.
“You come here and play with the likes of Harry Kane, who has just had one of the best seasons ever as a Premier League footballer,” said Grealish during an England press conference.
“I don’t know how he didn’t get more awards than he did, with the most goals and the most assists. So, it’s a pleasure to come here and play with these kinds of players.
“When you come here there is no better person to look at than Harry Kane, to see the way he looks after himself and stuff like that – like I said, I think he’s had one of the best Premier League’s, not that I have seen, but he’s right up there.
“And I am surprised he hasn’t won a few more awards.”
The Aston Villa midfielder could have potentially been lining up in the Tottenham side with he 27-year-old had Daniel Levy not tried to be overly shrewd and could have landed him for just £6million in 2018 (The Sun).
Grealish is exactly the type of player which Spurs have been crying out for since the departure of Christian Eriksen, however, he would now likely cost upwards of £80million.
