Jack Grealish advised to join Spurs or Manchester United by Villa legend

Former Aston Villa forward Gabby Agbonlahor has revealed if he was Jack Grealish he would be looking to join a club of the likes of Tottenham Hotspur or Manchester United.

The 33-year-old commented on Grealish’s future after midfielder once again caught eye in the 1-0 victory over Arsenal on Tuesday night (BBC).

After the victory, Grealish refused to comment on his future, however, Agbonlahor insisted he would not blame Grealish if he is to move on this summer.

‘You know what football fans are like, they never want to lose their best players, but for me as a Villa fan if he can keep us up and then had a move where he’s got a chance of playing Champions League football, playing with elite stars, then I’d give him my blessing. I’d understand that,’ Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.

‘I might get a bit of stick for this, but it’s what I’d do in his position’

Grealish has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs in the past and the rumours spiked last summer (talkSPORT).

‘He’s got a chance to join a club like Manchester United, or Tottenham, whoever is interested in him, and he’s got the chance to win trophies, to play in the Champions League and maybe a better chance to get into the England squad.

‘So from that point of view you can understand it and I feel Villa fans will be happy with what he’s done for Aston Villa and hopefully, fingers crossed, he’s kept them up.

‘At this time of his career, he’s coming into his prime at 25, so he can’t really turn down a chance of going to a top club, you just can’t do it,’ he added.

However, it was reported Daniel Levy was not willing to pay the full asking price of £25m which Villa placed on their prized asset (Daily Mail).

Spurs Web Opinion

I have loved watching Grealish this season. He has shown great maturity in leading his team and hopefully, for him he can keep Villa up. However, I do not see Spurs having a real interest in Grealish now. I feel their opportunity has passed and the price will simply be too high for Spurs now.

After a dazzling season back in the Premier League, there is very little chance any club will be able to purchase Grealish for anywhere near the price of £25m.
