Jadon Sancho fires warning at Spurs ahead of Champions League

Tottenham Hotspur take on Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night, in the first leg of their round of 16 Champions League tie.

The first match will be played at Wembley, with the return leg set for Germany in early March.

Spurs look as if they will be without both Harry Kane and Dele Alli when they take on the German League leaders this week, as they both remain out through injury.

This will leave Spurs with the likes of Fernando Llorente, Lucas Moura, Erik Lamela, and the in form Heung Min Son as attacking options.

The two sides also met twice in the Champions League last season, as they were placed in the same group, along with Real Madrid.

Dortmund eventually finished third in said group, after Spurs beat them home and away to secure a top place finish.

However, winger Jadon Sancho assures the North London club that the current Dortmund side is far better.

He said (Mirror): “I watched the games last season. Unfortunately we lost.

“I wasn’t at the away game I was at the home game when we lost but they are a good side.

“I feel like we have improved from last season so it won’t be the same match as last year.

“I think it will be more difficult for them. Especially as they have some big players missing out so it is going to be a tough one.”

He also spoke of his friendship with Harry Winks in the England squad: “It was mainly Harry Winks who I talked to in the squad. We were both new. I was new and he was kind of new.

“He welcomed me and I’m good friends with Harry now. We’ve stayed in contact. There were a few conversations after the draw with me Dele Alli and Harry, just saying, ‘see you soon’ and ‘it’s going to be a good match’.

“Obviously he feels they’re going to win. We feel we’re going to win.”
