James Maddison injury: what we know so far

Tottenham Hotspur’s talismanic midfielder, James Maddison, sustained an injury during the club’s recent Europa League clash against Hoffenheim.

The knock was severe enough to keep him out of Spurs’ subsequent Premier League encounter—a disappointing 2-1 loss to Leicester City at the weekend.

Yesterday, Spurs insider Paul O’Keefe took to X (formerly Twitter) to provide an update, stating that Maddison’s calf was under evaluation. However, at that time, the full prognosis remained unclear.

Spurs insider provides injury update on James Maddison

In the latest development, Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe has shed light on the situation yet again, this time confirming the length of Maddison’s absence.

In a follow-up tweet replying to his earlier post, O’Keefe wrote: “Update. The prognosis is 2-3 weeks.”

The injury could not come at a worse time for the player as he was finally starting to get more consistent starts in the team this season for manager Ange Postecoglou. The Englishman will now join Solanke, Johnson, Werner, Odobert and Vicario on the treatment table.

Maddison could be for Carabao and FA Cup ties

With two weeks being the expected timeline, Maddison could well miss the semi-final Carabao Cup tie against Liverpool and the FA Cup tie against Aston Villa that are to take place in less than two weeks time.

However, in the meantime, we will be waiting for more updates from the manager in the coming days.
