James Maddison has admitted that he is a big fan of an England international who Tottenham are reportedly trying to sign.
Over the past couple of months, several midfielders with Premier League experience have been mooted as targets for Tottenham.
One of them is an England international, who is struggling to get game time this season. We are referring to Kobbie Mainoo, whom Tottenham are reportedly reigniting their interest in after exploring a move for him in the summer.
Maddison, who has played with the Man United star for the Three Lions, has now said something very interesting about the youngster.

James Maddison is a big fan of Tottenham target Kobbie Mainoo
It has been reported that Mainoo is keen to leave United in search of regular game time in January, partly because he wants to get into the England squad for next summer’s World Cup.
Maddison admits he has always been very impressed with the rumoured Tottenham target and is convinced that the 20-year-old will have a big future in the game.
When asked if Mainoo is destined for big things despite his frustrations at Old Trafford this season, the Spurs star told Sky Sports: “Yeah, definitely. It wasn’t that long ago he was starting in the Euros for England. I remember Kobbie’s first start for England was a game I came on as a sub in and I was very impressed with how composed he was and the occasion just didn’t get to him at all.
“He is good on the ball and calm. A player with that much quality and assurance on the ball, I don’t see any way how he doesn’t get back to a really high level.”
Spurs expected to face plenty of competition for Mainoo
While the midfielder appears to have no way back at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim, Spurs are expected to face several challengers in their pursuit of his signature.
It has emerged that Tottenham’s North London rivals, Arsenal, are also exploring a move for Mainoo in January.
According to reports from Italy, Napoli have already made advances towards the Spurs midfield target, and are determined to win the race for the player.
