Timo Werner has extended his stay at Tottenham for another season, and James Maddison has expressed his delight at the news that the German will be sticking around.

Tottenham are expected to make big moves in the transfer market this summer, with Ange Postecoglou keen to upgrade his squad in a number of areas.
There is a belief that a fair few players will be leaving the club this summer, too, but one man who is going nowhere is Werner.
The winger joined Spurs in January on a six-month loan deal, and ended up with two goals and three assists in 13 games for the Lilywhites (Transfermarkt).
It was up for debate whether Spurs would retain Werner at the end of his initial spell, with an option to buy clause discussed ahead of the summer. But, it was announced yesterday that the 28-year-old would stay at Tottenham with another year-long loan deal agreed with RB Leipzig.
James Maddison is happy with Timo Werner transfer
Speaking to Sky Sports News at his latest golfing event, James Maddison expressed his happiness at the news that Werner would be staying with Spurs.
When asked by Michael Bridge about the plan to keep Werner, Maddison said yesterday: “That sounds good to me… Timo actually text me this morning because he’s into golf but couldn’t play as he’s getting married… he was supporting the day, but that’s good.”

Spurs Web Opinion
I really do think this deal makes a lot of sense. It’s a cheap option to fill an area of the squad that we need to keep stocked up if Bryan Gil is on his way out of the club.
Timo slotted in nicely last season, both on and off the pitch, and it’s a very risk-free signing for us. It will be a good deal as long as we sign another winger, anyway, because we really do need a top, top player in that area, too.
