James Maddison has sent a big hint on social media about his possible involvement in Tottenham’s upcoming clash against Leeds United.

The attacking midfielder has missed the whole of the season so far, but he has been included in the matchday squad by Roberto De Zerbi against Brighton, Wolves and Aston Villa.

Reports indicate that Maddison is now very close to making his first appearance of the season, with the big question being whether it will be on Monday.

The 29-year-old Spurs star caught the eye in training ground clips this week, and he has now sent a big hint ahead of the clash against Leeds.

James Maddison hints time is ticking down for his Tottenham return

With Xavi Simons out injured, many pundits have suggested that Spurs need Maddison’s creativity as they attempt to fight off relegation.

Based on the former Leicester man’s latest social media post, it appears that De Zerbi is about to be boosted by the return of Tottenham’s creator in chief.

Maddison took to Instagram to share a picture of himself in training along with three hourglass emojis, which many will take as a hint that he is very close to a return to the pitch.

De Zerbi told to risk Maddison against Leeds

Tottenham are not out of the woods yet, with West Ham still breathing down their necks, heading into the final three matches.

It is for this reason that Danny Murphy has told De Zerbi to risk starting Maddison against Leeds, even if the England international is not 100 per cent fit.

However, given how Conor Gallagher excelled as the number eight/10 against Aston Villa, the Spurs boss may resist the temptation to risk the 29-year-old.
