Jamie Carragher says Daniel Levy issue could play a part in Thomas Frank’s Tottenham future

Jamie Carragher believes one factor may be working against Thomas Frank as he fights to keep hold of his Tottenham job.

There is now no hiding way from the fact that Frank is now a man under immense pressure, with a big section of the Spurs fan base growing impatient with the team’s inability to create chances.

In fact, reports indicate that Frank is losing support among some members of the Tottenham board, with differing opinions emerging among the North London club’s hierarchy about his fit for the role.

In fact, Spurs are already thought to be contemplating approaches for Frank’s potential replacements, with the 52-year-old’s job now seemingly on the line.

Jamie Carragher on why Thomas Frank may be concerned about Tottenham job

Carragher has pointed out that the former Brentford boss was not appointed by the current Tottenham leadership, which has undergone a massive change over recent months.

The pundit suggested that the fact that Frank was appointed by Daniel Levy, who has now departed from his role as chairman, may count against the Spurs boss.

The former Liverpool man said on An Echo of Glory podcast about the Dane: “The problem we’ll have is he’s been appointed by Daniel Levy, who’s not now at the club, and that unfortunately, not just for Thomas Frank but for any manager.

“When there’s a change in ownership or a CEO, you’re always susceptible if things aren’t going well, and it’s easy for them to make that decision, because they didn’t bring him in, and if supporters aren’t happy, it plays into the thoughts of the supporters, and maybe gets them [ENIC] on side as well. I’d like to see him given a good chunk of the second half of the season.”

How much immediate danger is Frank in at Spurs?

Reports indicate that Frank will be handed big funds in January to strengthen the Tottenham squad, with the hierarchy keen to give him the tools to turn things around.

However, we have also read reports that Spurs have shortlisted Mauricio Pochettino, Oliver Glasner, and Marco Silva as potential replacements for Frank.

If the Lilywhites are making contingency plans for the 52-year-old, that certainly does not suggest that they have complete faith in him to fix this mess.
